Oregon grape

The oregon grape berries are sour and juicy. They can be used for jam, jelly or even wine. The berries of the oregon grape are rumored to make a nice desert when mashed with sugar and added to milk. When the juice is sweetened it tastes similar to grape juice.

The oregon grape is often planted as an ornamental.

The root bark, boiled and shredded, produces a bright yellow dye.
